Le Anime Sante
The story of the restoration of the Church of Santa Maria del Suffragio, known as the Church of the Anime Sante
Buy or rent

The Church of Santa Maria del Suffragio was built in memory of the victims of the 1703 earthquake.
The work went on for over a century but the people immediately named it Anime Sante.
The 2009 earthquake hit it hard, and the images of its dome collapsing on live television have become one of the most dramatic images of that disaster.
Ten years later, the documentary “Le Anime Sante” recounts one of the most careful and complex recovery and restoration sites among those that are rebuilding the city of L’Aquila. An important and special construction site because of the symbol that the Anime Sante has always represented and made possible by the collaboration between Italian and French schools of restoration, by the skill of the workers working on the site and the equal commitment of Italy and France.
