Beverly Pepper – A passage of time

The biographic documentary dedicated to the work of the American artist Beverly Pepper from the 1950s in Italy.

Beverly Pepper was one of the most important protagonists of contemporary art. She left us in February 2020, at the age of 97, having just finished and inaugurated her last work: the Beverly Pepper Park in Todi.
In the 1960s, she began working in a field considered, at the time, purely male, and began shaping iron and steel in steel mills. His first large-scale work was The Gift of Icarus, created for the 1962 Spoleto Festival.
His monumental installations and land art works can now be found all over the world.

From 2018 to the present, Visioni Future has produced, in collaboration with the Fondazione Progetti Beverly Pepper Italia, 3 documentaries regarding Beverly Pepper’s latest works:
The first one dedicated to Amphisculpture, the land art work donated by the artist to the city of L’Aquila and built in the Parco del sole, near the Basilica of Collemaggio.
The second one, Beverly Pepper’s Umbria, made for 58. Venice Biennale 2019 and dedicated to Beverly’s Umbrian works in Spoleto, Assisi, Panicale, Terni, Perugia, Todi, and Brufa.
Finally La Piazza – The Park of Beverly Pepper in Todi, recounts the making of the park dedicated to her in the City of Todi. The park, with the 23 works she donated to Todi, is her first monothematic park in the world.

A passage of time is a journey through the wonderful Italian places where Beverly created her installations, land art works and sculpture projects, accompanied by the words of critics, other artists and Beverly’s friends.

From the years of the Dolce Vita and the first exhibitions, to the experience of the foundry and the Spoleto Festival, to the major exhibitions, the Biennale, the works created and the Todi Park inaugurated in 2019, it is Beverly herself through memory, anecdotes and reflections who tells us about her human and artistic journey.
